The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering MAVT at ETH Zurich seeks a Senior Scientist with focus on education in Product Development and Engineering Design. The position has responsibility in teaching and scientific research. The host is the Professorship for Product Development and Engineering Design.
Senior Scientist with focus on education in Product Development and Engineering Design (100%)
Responsibilities in teaching include: Development and implementation of novel teaching concepts and co-teaching of the bachelor courses innovation process, machine elements and dimensioning in German: (1) Blended learning with tangible models and web-based exercises; (2) Development of new assessment methods and computer-based exams; (3) Teaching of courses and supervising of BSc-, MSc and PhD-Students.

Responsibilities in research include: Development of an own research program in the field of Product Development with focus on challenges related to engineering design practice in die field of medical devices or general mechanical engineering applications: (1) Development of new methods that impact the development of products in the digital age; (2) Focus on quantitative and experimental research.
You are passionate in innovating teaching. You have a clear research vision about new innovative methods relevant for product development practice. You have a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering, experience in teaching, didactic and engineering design research. You have experience with large classes and a proven record in teaching. You have demonstrated that you are capable of developing new methods and proving their relevance in industrial practice. You are interested in working in an interdisciplinary environment and you are motivated to apply your research to industrial applications in the field of mechanical engineering.

The Senior Scientist position is possible as either a tenure-track or permanent position depending on your experience level. You will be part of a highly motivated and interdisciplinary research team in a unique environment with well-established collaboration with academic, industrial, clinical partners. We provide an environment in which you can explore new ideas in research and teaching on your own responsibility. The starting date is flexible but scheduled for autumn 2019.
