The Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering of ETH Zurich is dedicated to world-class research and education in the broad area of electrical engineering and electronic information processing. The Wireless Communications Group (WCG) at the Communications Technology Laboratory, ETH Zurich, invites applications for a
Doctoral Position in Cooperative Communication Techniques for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
The research in this project focuses on investigating and implementing cooperative communication techniques for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Main goals are to improve their efficiency and scalability with respect to an increasing number of nodes. Physical layer (PHY) cooperation between wireless nodes, distributed signal processing and multi-antenna systems have the potential to achieve these goals. However, they have to be combined with resource allocation and network routing protocols, adapted to the proposed PHY cooperative techniques.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate holding an excellent degree in electrical engineering or equivalent disciplines. A Master’s thesis in the area of wireless communications is not required but would be helpful. You should be fluent in English (written and spoken). Knowledge in German is welcome, but not mandatory. We offer excellent supervision and infrastructure, cutting edge research in an international team, and a competitive salary commensurate to the rules of ETH Zurich. The teaching duties include support and supervision of students in lectures, exercises and labs, seminar projects as well as Master’s and Bachelor’s theses.
We look forward to receiving your online application including an application letter, a detailed curriculum vitae together with a list of grades as well as other academic achievements, and a short description of your Master’s thesis together with the name of your thesis supervisor. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
