The Institut für Verkehrsplanung und Transportsysteme (IVT) of ETH Zurich is looking from the earliest possible date for a
Director Traffic Engineering research group
As the director of the group you will conduct fundamental and applied research on the safety, capacity and traffic flow of road systems. You will address the fundamentals of capacity estimation and of traffic control, and will develop the necessary estimation and control methods. The role of automated and connected vehicles should be given special attention. You contribute to the field by your academic publications and conference papers. You will be responsible for the traffic engineering related courses in the Bachelor and Master programs of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering. You will teach the courses in your own field of expertise, and will co-ordinate the lectures in the wider field. The director leads and funds his/her group with some permanent support of the Department. He/she is acquiring his/her own research funds, for example from the Swiss National Science Foundation, and is in active contact with partners from industry and administrations nationally and abroad. He/she is part of the IVT board and of its wider activities and collaborates with its other two groups for transport planning and transport systems.
You have a Master degree or doctorate in traffic engineering or a related discipline. You have conducted research or have practical experience in the fields mentioned above.
