At the Institute for Spatial and Landscape Development, the Chair for Planning of Landscape and Urban Systems (PLUS) is looking for a
Research assistant (with possible extension to a PhD)
You will assist researchers with several research projects that are currently being conducted at PLUS. Your tasks include, for instance, ecosystem services mapping at different scales, defining settlement typologies for landscape visualisations, preparation of spatial data for 3D visualisations, performing analyses with the spatial decision support system PALM (, spatial analysis of green corridors in Switzerland and acquiring data from municipalities or cantons. Furthermore, you will support our team in teaching tasks, such as preparing lectures and supervising lab exercises. All tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with of Prof. Adrienne Grêt-Regamey.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to engage in this multitasking job. You will have completed a Master or equivalent degree in the area of geography, environmental sciences, ecology, environmental engineering, spatial planning, landscape planning or a similar education. It is important that you have the ability to get a rapid understanding of new methods and subject matter. The ideal candidate has previous experience with GIS, spatial modelling, and/or landscape visualisations. Good communication skills in German and English as well as an autonomous working style are necessary. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of young and motivated researchers.
