Postdoc Position in Security of Supply and Resilience
This Research is centered in energy security which provides an overarching conceptual framework that significantly broadens the more focused scope of classical risk assessment. The Postdoc is expected to carry out research in area of security of supply and resilience management of energy technologies and supply scenarios, including novel developments for indicator quantification and decision support by means of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and complex decision using for example Bayesian Networks to account for full uncertainty quantification. The PostDoc should provide his/her own contributions to the development of a detailed, quantitative and technology-based energy security and resilience assessment framework. The holder of this Postdoc position will work closely in a team consisting of a second PostDoc, two PhDs students and a technical specialist (GIS, databases, etc.). This Postdoc position is part of module 2.1 on “Assessing and Measuring Energy System Resilience” of the FRS program. The Postdoc is expected to supervise and support the PhD working in module 2.1 while providing local coordination with the module’s activities. The position is for 2 years and located in Singapore.
The successful candidate has a PhD in engineering or natural science and a very good command of English (spoken and written). He/She should possess a good knowledge of energy technologies, risk assessment as well as the concepts of energy security, sustainability and resilience. Additional skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), programming (e.g. Python), databases (e.g. MySQL), resilience analysis, risk governance or multi-criteria decision making are an asset. He/She is highly motivated to coordinate research on security of supply and resilience activities, and willing to take on initiative and responsibility for the PhD students. As mentioned before the PostDoc will be working in a team, and thus must be a good team player willing to integrate in a large multi-disciplinary research program.
