Zürcher Kantonalbank's asset management is the second largest asset management company in Switzerland and a leading provider of private equity and venture capital solutions. Our private equity team manages over CHF 300m in assets under management (AUM) and has invested in over 20 growth companies to date. This year, we have launched the successor program of the "Swisscanto Private Equity Switzerland Growth" porgam, aiming to raise CHF 250 million, with the first closing scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. To support our expanding investment activities, we are looking for a highly driven and experienced Investment Director to join our team in Zurich.
As an Investment Director you will be an integral part of the investment team, actively managing and executing transactions through the entire investment process from screening to exit and supporting portfolio management on a fund level. Your primary responsibilities will include deal sourcing of the most competitive deals in the market, lead and conduct due diligences and negotiations for growth investment transactions in the LifeTech sectors (HealthTech, Digital Health Technologies, Medical Devices and Diagnostics including AgTech and FoodTech).
As an active investor you will leverage your industry expertise, network and analytical skills to drive investment decisions and provide strategic support to our portfolio companies with value creation activities, often through a board or observer seat. Further you will work together with the investment team on various tasks such as trend scouting, market research, strategic projects, fundraising and further fund strategies. Your tasks
- Screening: Identify and attract high-potential technology companies that aligned with our investment strategy. Network with founders, co-investors, advisors etc. and represent the investment team on conferences
- Sourcing: Reach out to promising growth companies, perform due diligence on potential investments and prepare investment reports, term sheets and other material for presentation to the investment committee
- Transactions: Manage the negotiations and closing of investments coordinating with legal, finance, and due diligence teams
- Value creation: Managing portfolio companies by providing strategic guidance and operational support to portfolio companies in order to maximize value creation including participating in boards
- Support the portfolio management with portfolio construction, risk- and liquidity management
Your profile
- Master's degree and/or Doctorate in natural sciences, medicine or medical technology
- Additional corporate finance, business or management education, such as an MBA
- 15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 10 years investing in venture capital or corporate venture investment in HealthTech with a proven track record
- Extensive board experience, driving value creation and successfully exiting
- Strong network in healthcare and technology in Switzerland and preferably also across Europe
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to combine strategic thinking and hands-on execution and with exceptional analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- High degree of flexibility, ability to work in a team and tackle multiple challenges
- Fluent in English and good communication skills in German
