With around 2,100 bachelor and master students, Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is one of Europe’s leading arts universities. We offer a wide range of teaching and research programmes in the fields of design, film, art, media, music, dance, theatre, arts education and transdisciplinarity. ZHdK has set itself the strategic goal of continuing to be one of the leading national and international research institutions in the creative economies. A key step towards attaining this goal is the establishment of the Zurich Centre for Creative Economies (ZCCE) in association with external partners. The ZCCE will pool existing measures and launch new initiatives.
We are therefore now inviting applications for the position of
Professor in Creative Economies (Tenure Track, 80-100%)
This post is available with immediate effect or subject to agreement.
We intend to position the ZCCE as a national and international centre of excellence in the field of the creative economies https://www.zhdk.ch/zcce
. The incoming professor will be responsible for setting up and managing the ZCCE. He or she will actively pursue teaching (at BA and MA level), research (based on third-party funding and in cooperation with external organisations) and talent advancement (to PhD level in the mid-term, and in specific qualification programmes in the short-term). To this end, the appointee will analyse various forms of ecology at the interface of culture, society, politics, business and science with reference to the disciplines taught and researched at ZHdK. Within the framework of a tenure track, the new professor will receive appropriate support and coaching towards attaining this position over a period of 4-6 years. To perform this interesting and challenging role, he or she will work together with a Managing Director.
We welcome applications from candidates who do not see culture and economy as opposed, but are instead capable of developing new and alternative scenarios from within the force field spanning these two concepts. The focus lies on specific approaches to the arts and design rather than on transfer-oriented approaches from other fields.
