For the PEARL beamline at the Swiss Light Source we are looking for a

Postdoctoral Fellow in Condensed Matter Physics

Your tasks

  • Develop theoretical models to describe the atomic and electronic structure of altermagnetic materials as measured in photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS, ARPES) and scanning probe microscopy STM (computational focus) 
  • Maintain and develop computational tools in collaboration with the team 
  • Collaborate with experimental and theoretical partners 
  • Assist other team members performing experiments at the SLS and other light sources 
  • Participate in the international scientific community by presenting your results at international conferences and publish them in peer-reviewed scientific journals

Your profile

  • PhD degree in physics or a related field 
  • Strong expertise in theoretical modeling of condensed matter systems and their surfaces 
  • Strong computing skills including programming and experience with high-performance computing 
  • Successful first author publications 
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
