For our Applied Materials Group in the Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging at the Center for Neutron and Muon Sciences we are looking for a

Beamline Scientist (Tenure Track)

Your tasks

  • Organize and run the user program on the engineering diffractometer POLDI, including industrial applications
  • Maintain and develop the instrument, also with respect to alternative use in imaging
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the group, including new research initiatives and funding acquisition
  • Perform independent research within the scientific scope of the group
  • Mentoring of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers

Your profile

  • PhD in material science, physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong research background in diffraction and engineering research
  • Excellent teamwork, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills
  • Proficient communication skills in English; knowledge of German is a plus
  • Experience with user support at large-scale research facilities and/or neutron instrumentation is an advantage
