PSI is collaborating with an industrial partner to build, commission, and run a pilot-scale research plant for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

For the Energy System Integration Group in the Laboratory of Energy Technologies and Innovation (LTI) we are looking for an

Engineer (80-100%)

Your tasks

  • Commissioning activities: Documentation, checking equipment functions, troubleshooting and manual tasks (mechanical, electrical, process) depending on qualifications
  • Safely operate and monitor a pilot-scale research plant comprising of reactors, distillation units, and other chemical processing equipment
  • Operations preparation: Participating in trainings. Helping with writing and refining SOPs and other documentation
  • Collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis
  • Trend analysis and troubleshooting
  • Work closely with process engineers, chemists, and other team members to execute experimental plans and scale-up activities
  • Communicate effectively with team members across shifts to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of operations

Your profile

  • Degree FH / University in relevant field (engineering, chemistry, or similar) or alternatively vocational training in field related to chemical plants
  • Ability and availability to work in shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Knowledge in operation, commissioning, or design of chemical plants desired
  • Experience in safe operation with regard to high pressure and flammable media desirable
  • Commitment to maintaining a high standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job
  • Proficiency in English. Knowledge of German desirable
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, standing, and working in various environmental conditions
