For the section Expertise and Analyses within the Department of Radiation Safety and Security we are looking for a
Your tasks
- Concept development, organization, execution, evaluation and interpretation of radiation protection measurement campaigns at PSI and at external facilities, primarily within an international project collaboration
- Preparation of radiation protection assessments (potentially using simulation tools)
- Development of radiation protection concepts (e.g., for clearance measurements or characterization of radioactive materials) and methods for measuring ionizing radiation according to the needs of the section
- Preparation of technical reports, quality management documents and scientific publications
- Presentation of results at specialist meetings and international conferences
- Performing work in supervised and controlled radiation areas
Your profile
- University degree in Physics or Engineering, preferably with a PhD
- Solid expertise in radiation protection, radiation physics, and radiation detection and measurement. Practical experience with measurement campaigns and experiments at particle accelerator facilities is an asset
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written) and willingness to learn German
- Strong skills in data analysis, data visualization and programming (e.g., C, Python)
- Knowledge of one or more major Monte Carlo radiation transport codes (FLUKA, Geant4, MCNP) is an asset
