The Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Technologies operates the state-of-the-art cleanroom PICO at PSI. Our aim is to expand our process and device capabilities in integrated photonics, as well as establish links to beamline and quantum research groups at PSI. For the development of the next-generation active photonic devices in our Integrated Photonics and Nanoelectronics group we are looking for a highly motivated
Your tasks
- Simulation, design and fabrication of integrated photonic devices.
- Contribute to process development in our cleanroom PICO.
- Build and maintain optical set-ups.
- Develop independent activities in integrated photonics or related fields by the acquisition of research funding from SNSF, ERC, EU and SNI.
- Support the activities of the IPN group on integrated photonics as well as the head of LNQ in the day to day management of scientific activities in her team. This includes training and supervision of junior researchers.
Your profile
- PhD In Integrated Photonics with strong focus on experimental work.
- Strong track record in nanofabrication expertise in a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility (ISO5).
- Hands-on experience with building and operating optical and electrical set-ups.
- Proven track record in teaching at the bachelor or master's level and supervision of master and PhD students.
- Laser and cleanroom safety training, experience with cryogenic characterization.
- Established experience with numerical simulations and software (eg. Ansys, Lumerical, Python).
- Experience with advanced photonic materials integration approaches on different platforms is a strong asset.
- Experience with external funding acquisition.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, fully proficient in English.
