The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2300 people.
The PSI center for accelerator science and engineering designs, builds, and operates complex accelerator facilities for research applications at PSI. Important sub-components of these accelerators are the electrical power supplies. Presently about 2500 power supplies with a wide range of specifications ranging from 5A to 10kA with voltages from 1 V to 800 kV are in operation. While the parameter range is large, they all share the requirements for high stability, very high MTBF, easy maintenance and flawless connectivity with the control system network. For the power electronics section in charge of design, construction and maintenance of these power supplies we are looking for a
