The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. The section Control Systems provides and maintains core software tools, APIs and building blocks to build reliable and robust control systems for the different large research facilities at PSI. The control system is based on the open platform toolkit EPICS to meet the challenges in data acquisition and device control in modern accelerator facilities. For the group responsible for the integration and support of beamlines and experimental stations of the Swiss Light Source SLS and the SwissFEL X-ray free-electron laser facilities we are looking for a
Your tasks
- Leading, developing, and supporting a team of control system and software engineering specialists
- Coordinating group tasks with your peers and project leaders including planning, tracking and reporting of those tasks
- Overall responsibility for support and alignment with stakeholders from the Center for Photon Science working on the SwissFEL and SLS facilities
- Contributing to the section's vision, strategy and culture, as well as responsibility for coherent implementation of intended strategic goals and outcomes at the group level
- Integrating state-of-the-art experimental stations and beamline hardware components into the EPICS control system including maintenance and lifecycle management
Your profile
- Degree in software engineering, computer science, natural sciences or equivalent combined with several years of experience with control systems
- You possess sound technical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and have gained experiences in software development
- Prior experience in leadership is desired
- You define yourself as an outcome and value-oriented professional with a growth mindset who can demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- You enjoy working in a diverse environment and your excellent communication skills make it easy for you to deal with different stakeholders (German is a plus)
