For the Spectroscopy of Quantum Materials Group we are looking for a motivated and talented scientist to join our research project on mesoscopic physics in kagome lattice based magnetic Weyl semimetals as a
Your tasks
- Growth of kagome materials in thin film form
- Characterization of films via scanning probe microscopy, XRD, and magnetometry
- Patterning of devices via microfabrication
- Investigation of electronic transport
- Investigation of electronic and magnetic properties using X-ray based techniques such as ARPES, PEEM, and RIXS
- Analyze scientific data and publish in peer reviewed high impact scientific journals
- Support and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Collaborate with other scientists overlapping in projects
- Keep good record of the work in lab notebooks and electronic files
Your profile
You have a PhD degree in physics with solid knowledge of condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, and magnetism. You have interest in a wide range of physics and experimental techniques and you are capable to adapt to new challenges. You are an independent researcher but at the same time a good team player.
You possess the following expertise:
- Low temperature delicate electrical measurements
- Vacuum technology and film growth
- Microfabrication using optical lithography and e-beam lithography
- Scanning probe microscopy (AFM, MFM)
- Research on correlated materials or magnetism
- X-ray based techniques such as XRD, ARPES, PEEM, and RIXS
- Good software skills to analyze data
- Proficiency in English both spoken and written
