The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. The Digital Signal Processing (DSP) group is part of the Large Research Facilities (GFA) division. The group is responsible for development and maintenance of fast, real-time applications implemented in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), microcontrollers or embedded processors for electronics systems in our accelerators. FPGA and Embedded Software Developer
Your tasks
  • Specification, design, implementation, simulation, verification, and documentation of system on chip (SoC) applications for various accelerators 
  • Development of real-time applications in FPGA using VHDL and in embedded RISC processors, microcontrollers, or GPUs using C/C++ 
  • Automation of development and test processes using Python or Matlab 
  • Integration of the applications within the control system and commissioning in the facilities 
  • Improvement and maintenance of existing applications in the accelerators
Your profile
  • University degree in electrical engineering or computer science 
  • Experience in programming, simulation and implementation of FPGA projects in VHDL using FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado, ISE/EDK and ModelSim 
  • Good knowledge of digital signal processing and control theory 
  • You take the initiative in your area of responsibility and work actively in a solution-oriented manner 
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and your communication skills make it easy for you to deal with different stakeholders
