Scientist (Tenure Track)
SwissFEL Cristallina Quantum

We seek for a person, able to push technical and scientific boundaries. You will become part of a vibrant research environment, using state-of-the-art instrumentation to perform your own and collaborative research on quantum many-body systems under extreme conditions. In your position as Scientist (Tenure Track) at the Cristallina hard X-ray endstation of the SwissFEL X-ray free-electron laser, you will also collaborate closely with other PSI groups and external users. 

Your tasks
  • Develop and lead an independent X-ray scattering-based research program on driven quantum many-body systems under extreme conditions
  • Commission, operate and further develop Cristallina beamline and endstation components with a focus on low-temperature, high-magnetic-field sample environments
  • Support and collaborate with external user groups at the Cristallina endstation
Your profile
  • PhD degree in physical sciences and experience in large-scale facility research
  • Track record in low-temperature physics and/or scattering techniques
  • Knowledge in developing scientific instrumentation and in computing with large datasets is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in English and strong organizational skills in dynamic interdisciplinary work environments
