The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of matter and materials, energy and environment and human health. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2100 people.
For the Spectroscopy of Novel Materials Group at the SIS beamline
at the Swiss Light Source we are looking for a
- Conduct research using angle-resolved photoemission ARPES and other techniques for studying novel topological quantum materials, superconductivity as well as correlated electronic systems
- Active participation in the collaboration with theory groups at PSI and/or external Institutions/Universities
- Support external users at SIS beamline, which provides a state-of-the-art experimental set-up to study the electronic band structure of novel complex materials by spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopies
You are a recently graduated PhD scientist with experience in the field of condensed matter research, who is interested in research on novel quantum materials, superconductivity and correlated systems. Ideally you have experience with ARPES. You also have experience with or interest in learning about sample characterizations and transport measurements. You work well in a group and are willing to collaborate with and lend support to other team members as well as external guest scientists.
Our institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from a systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture. If you wish to optimally combine work and family life or other personal interests, we are able to support you with our modern employment conditions and the on-site infrastructure.
