The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of matter and materials, energy and environment and human health. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2100 people.

The Magnet Section is developing, constructing, commissioning and maintaining electromagnets, permanent magnets and superconducting magnets for different particle accelerators at PSI. For the Superconducting Magnet Group within this section, one of the main tasks for the next years will be the development and test of superconducting superbend magnets using Nb-Ti as superconductor for the upgrade of the Swiss Light Source (SLS 2.0). Therefore, a dedicated test stand for superconducting coils and components using cryocoolers has been designed and commissioned. The upgrade of the superbend magnets using high temperature superconductors (HTS) represents a major challenge for the cooling concept that is based on cryocoolers.

For Superconducting Magnets Group we are looking for a
