The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. The Swiss Light Source SLS at the PSI is a third-generation synchrotron light source, offering unique research opportunities to academic research teams as well as industrial research groups. It hosts several laboratories where, world-leading research is conducted in an interdisciplinary and stimulating environment with excellent infrastructure. Within the framework of a project we develop new concepts of coherent imaging techniques in the extreme ultraviolet EUV range and explore their applications. Your tasks
  • Lensless EUV imaging for photomask and pellicle characterization for applications in the semiconductor manufacturing industry
  • Performing experiments at the XIL-II beamline of SLS
  • Collaboration with external partners, in particular with Korea
  • Analysis of experimental data and simulations and development of novel algorithms
Your profile
You have a master degree in science or engineering and have a keen interest in applied research in microscopy and optical instrumentation. You are a highly motivated team player and would like to pursue a PhD project with main focus on hands-on experimental techniques. Experience in some of the following fields will be of advantage: optics, photonics, synchotron facilities, X-Ray imaging techniques, lensless microscopy, materials science and EUV lithography. The successful candidate will enroll at the graduate school at ETH Zurich.
