For the Severe Accident Research Group in the Reactor Physics and Thermal-Hydraulics Laboratory we are looking for a
Severe Accident Modelling and Simulations for Nuclear Reactors
Your tasks
  • Development and qualification of plant models of light water reactors for scientific support related to severe accident management guidelines and/or source term assessments and accident progression analysis
  • Application of uncertainty quantification and sensitivity analysis methodologies for severe accident simulations
  • Enhancements of severe accident code chemistry models including validation against experiments and coupling with GEMS thermodynamic package
  • Publication of scientific results in journals, technical reports and presentations at scientific meetings
  • Assistance to the group head in preparation and execution of research projects
  • Supervision of PhD, master students, trainees including teaching activities on beyond design basis accidents
Your profile
We are looking for a team player able to work independently with strong experience in severe accident modelling and simulations with the MELCOR code or equivalent codes. The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in nuclear engineering or equivalent field. A solid background of severe accident and source-term retention phenomenology is expected, as well as experience in statistical methods for uncertainty and sensitivity analysis. In this context, proficiency in programming and scripting would be an asset. Also, a certain familiarity with chemistry would be useful. Very good command of English is required and knowledge of German would be beneficial.
