Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an internationally networked aquatic research institute within the ETH Domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). Eawag conducts research, education and expert consulting to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems.
To strengthen the Eawag communications team, we are looking for a Bilingual Science Editor with a strong focus on the Research Department Sanitation, Water and Solid Waste for Development (Sandec), starting 1 May 2026 or by mutual agreement.

Bilingual Science Editor Communication (m/f/d) (100 %)

In this diverse dual role, you will work in German and English at the interface between research and communication. You will prepare scientific content in an accessible, impactful, and multimedia-driven way, with a particular focus on development cooperation, the environment, and sustainable sanitation solutions.

In addition, you support the heads of the Communication and Sandec departments in the strategic development of channels and formats. As part of the core processes of both departments, you actively contribute to the sustainable shaping of Eawag’s external profile.

Your responsibilities within both departments

Sandec

Communication
  • Developing and implementing multimedia communication projects for 
    Eawag and its research departments
  • Managing and further developing the Eawag video studio (reservations, maintenance, upgrades), including user support and training
  • Advising staff on the planning and execution of multimedia projects
  • Producing primarily multimedia content, including articles and short- to medium-format videos for the Eawag website and other channels
  • Editorial support for Eawag’s social media channels
  • Contributing to projects led by other team members within the Communication Department
Does this sound like you? Then ideally you bring the following profile:
  • University degree (preferably in the natural sciences) combined with professional training in journalism or advanced training in communication
  • Several years of professional experience in editing and science communication, ideally in higher education or a public institution
  • Excellent editorial skills and strong linguistic competence for conveying complex topics clearly and accurately
  • A strong interest in development cooperation, environmental topics and environmental research
  • Proven skills in digital media, multimedia production and social media, 
    with a keen sense for audience-oriented communication
  • Knowledge of visual communication, particularly audiovisual production
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English; knowledge of French 
    is a strong asset
