We are seeking a laboratory technician for the field of Sedimentology & Organic Geochemistry Analysis. As part of your tasks, you will independently organize laboratory operations and carry out sedimentological and lipid analyses for research projects.
Your tasks
• Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas chromatographs,
gas chromatograph-mass spectrometers, and SoliTOC
• Routine and advanced organic geochemical analyses of lipids
• Analysis of sediments (TOC and grain size distribution)
• Advising and supporting researchers and students
• Deputizing other laboratory staff of the department,
including carrying out (sediment and water) sampling
Who are we looking for?For these demanding and varied tasks, you have completed training as a Laboratory Technician, specializing in Chemistry and/or hold a university degree up to Master. You possess excellent technical skills and a solid theoretical as well as practical background in organic chemistry. You also have experience in gas chromatography, particularly in troubleshooting and problem-solving. You place great importance on efficient organization of laboratory operations to ensure the highest data quality. You are eager to collaborate with international students within research projects and to co-supervise laboratory trainees, where flexibility and teamwork are essential. Excellent oral and written English skills, as well as confident IT skills (especially in common Office programs), are required. German skills would be a plus. A category B driver’s license rounds off your profile. You are interested in fieldwork and are willing to obtain a boat license and occasionally work outside regular hours.
