Professorship in Pathogen Evolution and the Department of Aquatic Ecology is seeking a highly motivated

Postdoctoral Researcher in Drug Resistance Evolution (m/f/d)

to study drug resistance evolution in various pathogens through population genetic modelling and pharmacodynamic data analysis. 

Project background 
The project's first objective is to develop a modular polygenic model that will help us understand the mechanisms underlying drug resistance emergence and propagation, with a focus on ploidy, repro-ductive mode, and lifestyle. The second objective is to extract and analyze a large amount of phar-macodynamic data from various sources and design a user-friendly database. The position is for 24 months with a possible extension and requires 80-100 % time commitment. 

The group (PI: Prof. Barbora Trubenova) is hosted by Eawag Department of Aquatic Ecology in Dübendorf and ETH Zurich Department of Environmental Systems Sciences (Institute of Integrative Biology). The workplace is at Eawag Dübendorf campus. 

The ideal candidate is able to work independently as well as part of a small team, has strong self‑motivation and is able to develop new skills to explore new topics. The project requires the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment, and excellent communication and data analysis skills. The working language is English. 

Strong candidates have a Ph.D. in Genetics, Computational Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field. A strong background in evolutionary population genetics, with expertise in mathematical model-ling and simulation, is valuable. Prior experience in integrating diverse datasets and developing com-putational tools for data analysis and Interest in designing and implementing databases is a strong plus. Strong candidates have a track record of productivity demonstrated by publications in reputable scientific journals.
