The Department of Environmental Microbiology has a vacancy for a
Postdoctoral Researcher on Legionella Ecology in Buildings
in order to investigate multiple aspects of Legionella detection, Legionella-host interactions, and Amoeba/Protozoa ecology in the context of building plumbing systems.

This project is part of a multi-institute interdisciplinary effort, which aims to address concerns about the increasing number of Legionellosis cases in Switzerland and the legal and practical aspects concerning Legionella contamination in buildings. The period of employment for this project is 12 - 24 months, starting ideally in September 2021.

We are looking for experienced candidates interested in multidisciplinary research that bridges fundamental and applied aspects with a PhD degree in a relevant field. The successful candidate will have specific expertise in working with both culture- and PCR-based methods to quantify protozoa and/or Legionella, and/or knowledge of molecular methods (sequencing etc.) with a proven track record that could develop and bring this expertise to the project team.
