Materials science and technology are our passion. With our cutting-edge research, Empa's around 1,100 employees make essential contributions to the well-being of society for a future worth living. Empa is a research institution of the ETH Domain.
You will work on a research project in the field of novel dielectric elastic materials. The emphasis will be on synthesizing specially designed polymers and elastomers with improved dielectric and mechanical properties. Additionally, their dielectric, optical, mechanical, and electromechanical properties will be evaluated. You will join a strong team at the forefront of elastomeric materials development.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in synthetic organic and polymer chemistry, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary field, and openness to learning new things. The PhD candidate needs to be proficient in spoken and written English and has a Master’s degree.
We are offering a modern research environment and excellent infrastructure. The work will be carried out at Empa Dübendorf under the supervision of Prof. Dorina Opris. You will be registered as a PhD student at ETH Zurich in the Department of Materials. The planned project duration is four years.
We live a culture of inclusion and respect. We welcome all people who are interested in innovative, sustainable and meaningful activities - that's what counts.
