Our Laboratory for Advanced Fibers in St. Gallen pursues application-driven research in the field of polymers and fibers. We work towards a new generation of hernia repair meshes with built-in local drug-delivery strategies to enhance post-surgical outcomes.
Your tasks
- Develop novel medical liquid-core fibers for drug-loaded hernia repair meshes
- Materials development for MedTech application, involving state-of-the-art synthesis and analytics
- Acquisition of research grants and writing of scientific publications
- Supervision of students and interns
- Collaboration with surgeons, engineers, chemists and fiber technologists
Your profile
- PhD in polymer science or biomedical engineering
- Hands-on experience in hydrogel development, bacteria-materials interaction is a plus
- You like to work interdisciplinary and publish your results for the scientific community
- Fluency in English, further knowledge of German is a plus
