Within the scope of a privately funded project on water filtration systems, we developed new granular material beds for virus removal from drinking water. Aiming to bring the material from lab to product scale for the development of reliable point-of-use water treatment solutions for remote and emerging locations, further material tuning, evaluation and system integration is required. To be successful it requires a technology-based approach complemented by good business acumen, hand-on water filtration experience a strong target driven mindset.
To bring the technology to the turning point required to start a business chapter, our Laboratory for High Performance Ceramics offers a position for a
Engineer in Materials for Virus Filtration and System Integration
to fine tune the material properties, evaluate its key metrics and test its application dependent system integration in order to be able to secure startup business funds. Based on current key metrics as well as application and/or system dependent performance targets, the candidate will fine-tune the filtration media application and system oriented. This will be done in a fully vertically integrated approach, from the cost-based selection of the starting materials, to the final system evaluation from a technological and business perspective. An in-depth knowledge of water filtration technology and industry with good business acumen is mandatory. This requires hands-on experience in virus filtration tests, filtration media specification as well as filter system design and integration. A sound interest in filter material fabrication, required for the fine-tuning of the granular filter bed is a further prerequisite. Previous experience in relevant industrial sectors is of advantage.
For this ambitious target, we are looking for a highly motivated candidate with an engineering or PhD degree in environmental sciences (water treatment and sanitation) or equivalent. The candidate needs to be proficient in English (oral and written). Knowledge of German and French is an asset.
