We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic

Post-Doc (100%) in the field of safety assessment of graphene-related materials

to join our dynamic and interdisciplinary team. Would you like to contribute to the safe innovation of graphene and 2D materials? Graphene related materials (GRMs) are under intense research due to their high technological potential for a broad variety of applications i.e. electronics, energy storage, but also in the field of nanomedicine. However, the safety of these emerging materials, in particular regarding structure-activity relationships and potential long-term adverse effects in healthy and diseased populations is largely unknown. The aim of the project is to establish fundamental understanding on the toxicity of GRMs/2D materials in an advanced primary lung disease model upon prolonged repeated exposure to industrially relevant GRMs/2D materials. A special focus will be given on the long-term effects on barrier intergrity, functionality and pro-inflammatory response.

We are looking for a highly motivated team player capable of independent, efficient handling of scientific projects in an interdisciplinary environment. The candidate should have a PhD degree in biology, life science or a related field. You have a sound knowledge in working with advanced biological models and ideally already gained experience in the field of nanosafety assessment as well as in the analysis and validation of transcriptomics data. Furthermore, excellent writing and communication skills (English) are of great importance.
We offer a highly interdisciplinary and supportive research environment with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. The position is available from October 2021 or after negotiation, for a duration of 2 years.
