The research project focuses on developing atomic layer deposition (ALD) processes for solid-state batteries in collaboration with an industrial partner. Your task includes precursor selection, development of deposition processes, layer characterization, and integration into batteries. Our labs are fully equipped for battery fabrication and testing. State-of-the-art facilities include synthesis labs with fume hoods, gloveboxes, various synthesis reactors and furnaces, sputtering, evaporation, and atomic layer deposition facilities, X-ray diffractometers, Raman and FTIR spectrometers, electrochemical characterization including impedance spectroscopy, mass spectrometers, gas chromatographers, thermogravimetric analyzer, various equipment for the characterization of electrolytes, etc. Access to advanced electron microscopy and X-ray facilities is also available.
We are looking for a highly self-motivated team player ready to work independently in Empa’s vibrant international research environment. The ideal candidate possesses a PhD degree in materials science, chemistry, physics, or related fields. Prior experience in atomic layer deposition or chemical vapor deposition techniques is an advantage.
