The Laboratory for Particles-Biology Interactions is a highly motivated team of biologists and chemists with core competences in cell- and molecular biology, material science and chemistry. We possess many years of experience and expertise in nanosafety, including particle uptake, accumulation, translocation across biological barriers and their bio-responses. We collaborate with industries and regulatory bodies. To enforce our team we are looking for a:

Scientific Collaborator in Nanosafety (80 – 100%)

Your tasks
You will be member of the core team building up and operating a national and independent contact point for the safe handling of nanomaterials, regulation and knowledge transfer. This «Contact Point Nano.ch» is to combine the scientific and regulatory expertise available in Switzerland – from production and application to disposal – and to convey high-quality information to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and start-up businesses in a customized and efficient way.

Your profile

We are looking for motivated and proactive candidates with a high interest in operating such an office and to work as a member of a small team. You possess at least a Master degree in nanoscience, in life sciences or a similar education, a broad background in engineered nanomaterials (ENM), nanosafety, nano-bio-interactions, regulation and safe handling of ENMs. You have excellent communications skills, are well-structured, able to handle a website and social media accounts as well as organizing workshops and are fluent in German and French.

We provide an interdisciplinary assignment in a modern and innovative environment. The work will be carried out at Empa St. Gallen. The position will be available from April 2018 with a planned project duration of two years.
