Your tasks
The Shahgaldian group at the Institute of Chemistry and Bioanalytics develops enzyme-based functional systems at the interface of (nano)chemistry, biocatalysis, and protein science. These systems are applied to challenges in pharmaceutical research and related areas, using approaches from synthetic chemistry, bioconjugate chemistry, nanotechnology, and enzyme engineering.
- Design and experimental implementation of enzyme-based strategies for peptide synthesis
- Experimental work in synthetic and analytical chemistry, including product characterization (NMR, LC-MS, spectrophotometric measurements) and reaction optimization
- Contribution to the design, optimization and experimental evaluation of engineered enzymes
- Contribution to teaching, supervision, and group activities according to institutional regulation
- Preparation of scientific publications and presentations at conferences
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field with hands-on experience in synthetic chemistry
- Strong interest in protein science and biocatalysis, with a willingness to develop skills in this area
- Experience with molecular biology, protein (bio)chemistry or peptide synthesis is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of multicultural and interdisciplinary team
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, German is advantageous
