Your responsibilities:
  • Take an active role in advancing environmental measurement and sensor technologies at FHNW: you will further develop a dedicated team and manage a well-equipped laboratory (currently focused on aerosol measurement technology).
  • Share your expertise through teaching – by delivering engaging lectures in both foundational and advanced modules and supervising hands-on student projects (a willingness to teach in German after an initial period is expected).
  • Acquire and manage applied research and service projects – practice-oriented, innovative, and results-driven.
  • Support the growth of your academic team with expertise and enthusiasm.
  • Contribute to the strategic and technical development of the Institute for Sensors and Electronics by introducing fresh ideas and initiatives.

Your profile

  • You have several years of professional experience in environmental measurement and sensor technologies – ideally gained in an industrial context – and are familiar with the challenges of developing new sensing methods.
  • You demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, take initiative, and bring strong leadership and management skills.
  • Your technical background is excellent: you possess in-depth knowledge of sensors and proven expertise in environmental measurement technologies – such as optical sensing or pollutant analysis.
  • You have a strong professional network – preferably within Switzerland – that provides you with direct access to relevant partners and projects.
  • You are passionate about teaching and ideally hold a teaching qualification – or are willing to obtain one after starting the position.
  • You are a proactive, communicative individual who stands out through expertise and a clear drive to shape the future of the institute.
