Your tasks
To strengthen and expand the expertise of Biomaterials and Biointerfaces in Life Sciences, the Institute for Chemistry and Bioanalytics at the School for Life Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland invites applications for two tenured professor positions. The positions will include the following tasks:
  • build and lead an independent research group at the forefront of applied and translational research at the interface between material chemistry and life sciences topics (e.g. in the field of biocompatible materials and coatings, bioimaging, biointerfaces and biomimetics, drug and gene delivery systems, advanced polymers and biopolymers, and hydrogels, e.g. for bioprinting and nanomedicine)
  • foster interactions within the school and collaborative research with regional, national and international industrial and academic research partners
  • activities towards start-up company creation are encouraged
  • increase the visibility of the School of Life Sciences in the scientific and industrial community by participating in professional networks, conferences and by maintaining a strong publication record
  • engaged teaching activities of the School of Life Sciences with a clear link to your research activities
Your profile
Applicants should have a strong scientific background, a passion to teach and supervise students and interact with peers, co-workers and project partners. Furthermore, we expect:
  • PhD in polymer chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, material sciences or another relevant area
  • proven record of applied research achievements, ideally with more than five years of industrial experience including team and project leadership
  • good knowledge of German and English (teaching language for the bachelor’s degree program is German, for the master’s English)
  • further training in higher education didactics or willingness to acquire this in the first few years
