Tax Manager EMEA
As General Dynamics / Jet Aviation EMEA Tax Manager you will be responsible for successfully steering the Jet EMEA and other Swiss General Dynamics entities through tax laws and regulations and for supporting GD Headquarters in Reston, Virginia with all relevant tax information across various EMEA jurisdictions. In this role, you will work on complex global tax planning and compliance issues and gain in a truly global organization.
Furthermore, you will ensure that the tax function is aligned with the organization’s Vision and strategy. You will also collaborate closely with the Group CFO and the General Dynamics EMEA Tax Director to ensure that the Tax function is globally aligned and executed effectively.
Workplace could be either Basel or Zurich.
Description/Tasks:
- Proactively identify, advice on and mitigate potential tax exposures
- Identify, propose, analyze, and implement Tax Planning initiatives, including M&A activities
- Develop, implement, maintain, and defend tax efficient operating structures with due regards of GD’s risk profile and business objectives
- Ensuring that appropriate tax advice is provided to the business
- Tax review of intercompany agreements and important contracts, as well as of potential cross-border activities
- Communication with company auditors and tax administrations
- Lead and manage various tax audits and litigations, with the assistance of internal and external resources
- Manage the SOX compliant Tax Accounting & Reporting, including US GAAP reporting using the CorpTax Provision software
- Maintain active communication / strong network / working relationship within Jet Aviation / General Dynamics subsidiaries and Headquarters, including the EMEA Operations & Finance teams, from the lower-level contacts up to the highest levels of Management, to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, ensure that high quality and timely services are provided, and change efforts are effectively lead
- Manage the tax compliance obligations in a complete and timely manner, including in-house preparation of Swiss tax returns for corporate income, withholding and stamp taxe
- Manage Transfer Pricing Documentation for Jet EMEA
Qualification/Experience:
- Tax Expert Diploma
- University title in Tax, Economics, Law or Accounting or equivalent a plus
- 3-7 Years of Big four or Multinational Corporation (MNC) Tax Department experience (US headquartered MNC a plus)
- Strong sense of accountability and mindset of high-quality results
- Ability to prioritize (80/20 rule) with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of assessing and understanding tax impact on company business, operations, and transactions in multiple jurisdictions
- Good understanding of Swiss and international tax laws and regulations
- Understanding of global tax provision and compliance processes
- Good understanding of tax accounting
- Good project management and implementation skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Proficiency in English and German
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and guide business partners
- Ability to leverage current technology to drive process efficiencies
- Ability to apply tac expertise in a practical manner and act as credible business advisor
- Ability to effectively communicate complex tax issues in a simple way to a broad business audience
- Experience with SAP and CorpTax Provision a plus
- Understanding of the aerospace industry and the regulatory framework a plus
- Additional language a plus (ideally Spanish and/or French)
