In order to reinforce the Mechanical Engineering Department in Basel we are currently recruiting for a
Mechanical Leader

Integrated within the Engineering department, the Mechanical Leader manages a mechanical engineering team within an MTX or CMPL project (aircraft level). Supported by Mechanical Engineering Technicians, Mechanical Engineers and Partners, the Mechanical Leader ensures that mechanical team meet the technical project requirements. He is responsible of the technical aspect of its discipline, within his project.

• Prepare and collect all data’s, clarify quotation, valid and secure hours sold and assumptions
• Define the way of working and deliverables in order to match with the project requirements assumptions
• Design mechanical design principle (MNT-STR), system architecture during the project upfront phase under the supervision of the Mechanical Principal Engineer
• Define properly the mechanical interfaces with supplier, ensure various support and follow-up
• Process and deliverable definition owner on project
• Support the EPM to define detailed score card with all mechanical deliverables (parts, assembly drawing, installation drawing, certification and compliance documentation). Define hours allocated per deliverables and commit dates based on PMO inputs (tier 3)
• Ensure Lessons Learn are well managed/integrated on project
• Distribute and Prioritize tasks and sub-projects among the project assigned staff in reference to the available manpower capacity, staff skills and tasks constraints_ project level
• If needed, manage Sub-contracting activities inside the projects (technical and quality aspect)
• Motivate and guide permanent or temporary assigned staff to reach the goals (schedule, cost and quality) set by the projects/department/JA/GD_ project level
• Manage and mediate interpersonal and professional conflicts within the project
• Responsible of the quality of the work performed within the mechanical team
• Develop engineering tools, methods and processed, within the department scope (could be supported by IT)
• Perform Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Accountable of the risks and opportunities (schedule, cost and weight), he supports the EPM to keep the balance at 0 or below all along the project
• Participate to customer review meetings, proposes and supports engineering solutions and discuss changes with customer representative
• Collaborates with the Engineering Project Manager to:
  o Demonstrate budget adherence and predictability on project
  o Demonstrate schedule adherence and predictability on project
• Act as a change specialist during PIR phase if required
• Participate and/or witness tests and prepare the corresponding report as required
• Perform Project Lesson learn
• Bachelor’s degree in functional area or related professional field from an accredited university
• Minimum of 5 years in VIP Engineering mechanical domains and Management
• Proficient with CAE & CAD tools (i.e. AutoCAD, Catia V5, Siemens NX, TeamCenter, etc.), and Microsoft Office
• Good and positive communication as per Jet Values, team spirit
• Comfortable to work in a stressful and highly demanding environment
• Language English (mandatory), French and/or German (nice to have)
