Job tasks
Working in close alignment with SIB’s overarching communications strategy, you will: 
  • Manage several, mostly digital, communication projects in parallel, from planning and execution to dissemination and evaluation, such as: 
- SIB Bioinformatics Awards (incl. award committee coordination); 
- Online campaigns; 
- Brochures. 
  • Develop and implement tailored communication plans and actions around our SIB Resources portfolio, our bioinformatics services, and the European / international projects we coordinate, in collaboration with the teams and stakeholders involved. 
  • Write engaging narratives tailored to our key audiences (incl. policy makers, scientists, industry) across a range of formats (e.g. videos, infographics, social media posts, web content). 
  • Social media: manage LinkedIn channels for specific projects, support our social media presence (LinkedIn, Bluesky) with campaigns and ad hoc posts to boost visibility and engagement.

Starting date:January 2025 
Based in Lausanne, with some flexibility to work from Geneva and from home.


Profile requirements
Education and experience 
  • At least 5 years in a Communications position in a similar role and sector 
  • Degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in Biology or a related field of the life sciences, or in communications/journalism 
  • Background in life science / computer science an asset 

Technical skills 
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills (experience in using project management tools an asset) 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills: capacity to translate complex concepts into engaging and impactful messages for various audiences 
  • Proven track record in managing different communications projects at the same time 
  • Command of MS office tools (Word, Excel, PPT) 
  • Fluent in English and French (oral and written). German an asset. 

Soft skills 
  • Able to connect day-to-day communication activities with broader institutional goals and ensure coherence across initiatives 
  • Proactive, self-driven and creative 
  • Enthusiastic and curious 
  • Great capacity to convey ideas verbally in and writing 
  • At ease in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Capacity to think visually to provide input to graphic designers or illustrators 
  • Good interpersonal and collaborative skills, strong team spirit
