Job description
Agroscope is the Swiss centre of excellence for research in agriculture, nutrition and the environment. We have an opening for a motivated PostDoc to join AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Start date: March 1, 2025 (or upon agreement)

The Microbial Genomics & Bioinformatics team is working on various innovative research projects with renowned experimental partners. This includes a proteogenomics solution we developed for identifying new, unannotated protein-coding genes in bacterial genomes, some of which perform important functions (https://iptgxdb.expasy.org/).

Tasks
  • Extend the functionality of the proteogenomics solution (expert system to prioritize novel CDS; study synthetic communities and simple eukaryotes)
  • Identification of new proteins with relevant functions for symbiosis and biocontrol, e.g. antimicrobial peptides and effectors
  • Application of methods such as genome assembly, genome annotation, comparative genomics and multi-omics data integration
  • Optimizing and applying existing analysis pipelines, e.g. for de novo genome assembly or to search large public proteomics data
  • Publication of bioinformatics tools and results in scientific journals; contribution to the acquisition of third-party funding

Profile requirements
  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or similar
  • Strong skills in analyzing and intergating functional genomics data, especially proteomics -DDA and DIA workflows- and genomics. Experience in analysis of Ribo-seq, Tn-seq data are beneficial
  • In-depth programming experience (Python, Linux scripting/bash, R); experience in scientific publishing
