We are currently looking for a PhD candidate in Biostatistics (100%) at the Center for Primary Care and Public Health (Unisanté), affiliated to the University of Lausanne.
The ideal starting date would be May 1, 2023, but it will be decided in agreement with the future candidate. The duration of the project will be 4 years. The remuneration will be based on the salary scales applied by the SNF for a Doctoral student (roughly 50’000 CHF per year). Upon accomplishment, the candidate will obtain a PhD degree in Life Sciences - mention Biostatistics - from the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne (UNIL), Switzerland.
The focus of the research will be on the development of meta-analysis methods for rare events and the integration of results from causal observational studies into the meta-analysis. The candidate will work (~80%) under the supervision of Dr Privat Docent Patrick Taffé from the Quantitative Research Sector of the Department of Epidemiology and Health Systems of Unisanté. The candidate will also occasionally be involved in clinical research projects (~10%) and assist the Quantitative Research Sector in his teaching missions (~10%).

Profile requirements
Ideally, the candidate should have a strong background in mathematics and statistics (Master of Science in Statistics or Applied Mathematics or Econometrics), and be comfortable with the Stata and/or R packages (programs will be written in both languages). The candidate should have a good command of English and a conversational level of French. The PhD thesis will be written in English.
