We are seeking to recruit a Scientific Biocurator to join the Swiss-Prot group of the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics in Geneva, Switzerland. Biocuration involves the critical interpretation and synthesis of information from the scientific literature in forms that are amenable to computational analysis. The successful candidate will join a team of biocurators responsible for the functional annotation of experimentally characterized human proteins and their orthologs in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot.

You should hold a PhD degree in biology or a related discipline such as biochemistry, with recent laboratory experience. Experience in the study of human and vertebrate proteins is required while experience in the study of enzyme biology is highly desirable.
Previous experience in biocuration is not essential; we are looking for people with good analytical skills and the ability to assimilate, evaluate and synthesize diverse and sometimes conflicting information rapidly. You should be highly motivated and able to work independently or as part of a larger team. You should be able to deliver high quality work, with great attention to detail, in accordance with deadlines.
Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential.
