Job tasks
Manage the operations, the communication, the budget and HR matters of the Vital-IT Competence Centre in accordance with the strategy, by engaging with internal and external audiences, and supporting its research and service activities.


  • Supervise the operations of the Vital-IT Competence Centre in accordance with the strategy defined by the Vital-IT Director and the senior scientists
  • Supervise the various services provided by the Vital-IT senior scientists and staff
  • Manage Vital-IT’s external communication, in particular the relationship to customers, partners and third parties and participate in the internal communication
  • Supervise Vital-IT’s budget and follow the day-to-day accounting, in collaboration with SIB Finances, including performing regular cost analysis and adapting price policy
  • Follow-up the day-to-day HR matters and be the interface with SIB HR
  • Prepare, supervise and/or support scientific and administrative projects that come under the responsibility of the Vital-IT Director and the senior scientists, including
         -   The drafting and reviewing of documents/presentations e.g. related to Vital-IT
         -   Reporting to SIB Management, Universities and EU/FNS/CTI grants
Profile requirements
  • Ph.D. in Science
  • 5+ years’ experience in scientific and administrative project management
  • Experience in people management
  • Experience in managing a large budget and following operational costs
  • Excellent command of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal relations


  • Life science background or experience in a life science or academic environment
  • Written and spoken German
