The SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics is a non-profit organization federating 65 Swiss research and service groups and bringing together 800 experts in bioinformatics, located all over Switzerland.

The national research initiative Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) will create a national infrastructure enabling the sharing of patient data for research across Switzerland. SIB will set up and run the Data Coordination Centre that will deal with data interoperability and organization nation-wide.

Role purpose
In collaboration with the Senior Information Security Architect, the Information Systems Security Officer will develop, implement, test and review the Institute’s information security policies and infrastructures. S/he informs users and management about potential threats, implements security measures, and monitors networks and infrastructures.

  • Collaborate with SIB system administrators and technology experts to implement the SIB security policy, in order to secure SIB’s infrastructure at various locations
  • Collaborate with the Senior Information Security Architect in researching and designing security policies and measures
  • Organize and teach security awareness training
  • Manage all aspects of incident response
  • Work with software developers in order to improve application security
  • Conduct testing of different applications and infrastructures
  • Report security status to the Senior Information Security Architect, SIB Management and various stakeholders within SIB
Required knowledge and experience
  • CISSP certification or equivalent
  • Demonstrated track record as security professional with 3-5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in health care or other regulated environment
  • System administration skills in UNIX and Windows
  • Good knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability assessment tools
  • Excellent knowledge of computer networking
  • Hands on experience in web development
  • Very good command of English
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or equivalent
  • German and/or French
The role will preferably be based in Lausanne and requires regular site visits at all SIB sites.
