Country Manager North America

Switzerland Tourism is the marketing organization for the national and international promotion of Switzerland as a vacation, travel and convention destination. Each day, the 280 employees at our Zurich headquarters and in 35 offices in 21 markets use innovative and unconventional means to market Switzerland as an especially attractive and diverse travel destination.
For our office in New York City, we are looking for a passionate destination marketeer with international experience in sales, PR, and B2C marketing, an entrepreneurial mindset, and strong customer focus to fill this leadership position, reporting to the Head of Markets West.
Your area of responsibility
- Head Switzerland Tourism's market presence in North America with the aim of increasing visitor numbers and generating value for Swiss stakeholders
- Manage and coach 18 full-time employees in North America, organized in four teams: sales (leisure and meetings & incentives), media & content creator relationships, and activation & campaigning
- Create an empowering and positive work environment where staff take responsibility for projects in their respective area and work across teams
- Conceptualize, execute and report ambitious, multi-channel marketing activities for North America and in close cooperation with ST Head office in Zurich. These reflect Switzerland Tourism’s overall strategic goals, are integrated, and attractive to Swiss destination and transportation partners to invest in
- Represent Switzerland Tourism in the market and build strong relationships with the travel trade, media, marketing providers, and Swiss institutional partners
- Strengthen and expand local partnerships and distribution networks
- Collect and analyze market intelligence to support internal decision process and enable the tourism industry
- Overall budget responsibility and HR administration in collaboration with the office manager
Our Expectations
- Extensive background in marketing, combined with several years’ experience in a leading management position (preferably in the tourism sector)
- Entrepreneurial and with a passion for the travel destination Switzerland
- Strong ethical standards, intrinsic motivation, resilience, and autonomous working style
- Decisive, integrative, with and winning personality, sales talent, flair for consultancy, and innovation
- All-rounder with hands-on mentality, able to work under pressure, and a desire to thrive in a fast-paced and large market such as North America
- Proven intercultural competence, strong leadership skills, and coaching abilities
- Affinity to North America, the Swiss tourism industry, and their respective cultures
- Willingness for frequent business travel within North America
- Excellent English (public speaking) is a must, as well as either French or German
- Budget acumen and cost awareness
