The WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF is part of the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL and thus of the ETH Domain. WSL focuses on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards. WSL employs approximately 600 people, of whom 180 work at SLF in Davos.

As part of the new research center "Climate Change, Extreme Events and Natural Hazards in the Alpine Region - CERC", which was founded as part of the SLF in Davos, we are seeking for the Alpine Remote Sensing research group as of January 2026 (for two years) a

Scientific Assistant 80-100% (f/m/d)

Your tasks
• Process and analyze SAR satellite data for the detection of surface displacements and potential mass movements in Alpine areas
• Perform statistical analyses and quality control of results
• Prepare technical reports and scientific publications
• Contribute to projects with Swiss partners (e.g. federal and cantonal authorities)
Your profile
• Master’s degree in Geography, Engineering, or Natural Sciences
• Experience with GIS, large datasets, and InSAR-based mass-movement monitoring 
• Strong programming skills. Experience with AI/ML methods is an advantage 
• Experience collaborating between research and practice, ideally in the Swiss context (municipalities, cantons, federal offices)
• Excellent German and English; French or Italian are a plus
• A structured, reliable, and team-oriented working style
