The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL is part of the ETH Domain. Approximately 600 people work on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards.
The Research Unit “Land Change Science” investigates the change of landscape over time, shaped by both natural processes and anthropogenic influences. The Research Group “Ecosystems and Landscape Evolution” is looking for 6 months for a highly motivated
Intern in Ecological Modelling 80-100% (f/m/d)
You will participate in the multidisciplinary “MaLeFiX” project which aims to link weather extremes to ecosystem services. The biodiversity aspect of the project is to predict the risk for Swiss biodiversity from temperature extremes. Your task will be to apply previously developed models to data about physiological constraints of different freshwater species (mainly fish). This will be done for several river segments in Switzerland to develop a spatial risk map.
You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology or environmental sciences with a background in ecology and have experience with coding in R. Knowledge about statistical models is a plus. You are fluent in English, work independently, have good communications skills and are motivated to work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary team.
