The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL is a part of the ETH domain. Approximately 500 people work on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards.

A joint project of WSL and Empa explores the restorative potential of green spaces in noise-polluted environments (RESTORE). In the framework of this project five new positions are created. Within the research unit ‘Land-Change Science’, we are searching for two years (possibility of extension), with start in October 2020 a
PostDoc Social Sciences (80%)
As part of an interdisciplinary research team, you will set up and conduct a Swiss-wide survey on noise annoyance and recreational behaviour. The survey will encompass the topics noise sensitivity, perceived wellbeing, most visited recreational areas, favoured green spaces etc. and will use modern questionnaire software and PP GIS. You will analyse your results in close collaboration with the other team members, write your own papers and contribute to joint publications.
You have a PhD in social sciences, environmental psychology, human geography or environmental/public health issues. You dispose of profound knowledge of quantitative social science methods and are desirably experienced in software-based questionnaires and PPGIS. You have good skills in statistical modelling and in writing scientific publications. You are strong in working independently but also in an interdisciplinary team. In addition to English, you are very skilled in German (oral and written). Knowledge of other Swiss languages is of advantage.
