Country Director (100%), Ukraine
Caritas Switzerland is one of the leading Swiss NGOs in the field of poverty reduction in Switzerland and abroad. International Cooperation programmes focus on humanitarian aid, income generation, climate change and migration. Within the Ukraine Programme, Caritas Switzerland works through local implementing partners, taking the locally-led action approach in its response, and focus on bringing technical value-added specifically in the fields of economic development, livelihoods, protection, shelter in addition to supporting partners in financial controlling and compliance standards.
Your duties
- Develop and implement a Caritas Switzerland Country Strategy in line with Caritas Switzerland’s strategic directions, in collaboration with the Ukraine country team
- Lead and manage the country team, ensure the organogram is well staffed and able to work at full capacity
- Actively contribute to holacracy processes
- Oversee the planning, design, execution and monitoring of programs, ensure compliance with donor agreements and reporting requirements
- Develop and implement a fundraising plan with input from the strategy and information from donor meetings on upcoming funding opportunities
- Manage country budget, ensure correct cost allocation and financial accountability
- Oversee the safety and security of all staff and operations in the country
- Develop and implement effective risk management strategies for medium and high risks
- Develop and cultivate relationships with government representatives, current and potential partners and service providers
- Ensure partnering strategies with local partners are developed and implemented
Our requirements
- Master's Degree (Master or Diploma) in International Development, Business Administration, Economics, Agricultural Development, Environmental Science or in any other relevant field, postgraduate in development studies and / or humanitarian aid is an advantage
- Experience in the transition from humanitarian aid programming to recovery/sustainable programming and development, such as livelihoods approaches or market system development can be advantageous
- At least 10 years of work experience in the area of international cooperation (emergency response and nexus environments), including foreign assignments of at least 5 years, and positions with management responsibility
- Proven experience in security and safety management
- Able to apply a coaching or authoritative leadership style
- Solid experience in planning, monitoring and implementation of projects and programmes and in cooperation with local partner organizations
- Strong finance management skills (budget monitoring of the country office and partners) and business expertise
- Willingness to be part of a transition to a decentralised management and organisational governance through holacracy; Experience in self-organising team settings is an advantage.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English, knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an advantage
