THE OPPORTUNITY
Deep Learning is a key contributor to the high performance of modern LC-MS proteomics search engines. Biognosys has been a leader of AI-based proteomics software and strives to stay at the forefront of the development of novel AI technological solutions. As an AI Engineer intern you will contribute to the development and integration of novel AI models that enhance our software performance. Together with senior members of the software development team, your work will involve data-driven identification of algorithmic bottlenecks and evaluating where AI can improve our workflows. You will have the opportunity to prototype cutting-edge AI architectures and training paradigms, and to integrate your work into a production‑level software. Strong experience in Python for machine learning is expected; familiarity with R, C#, or related tools is a plus.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, prototype and test new algorithms or AI models in Python
- Keeping up-to-date with current topics at the intersection of proteomics and AI
- Communicate key results, both internally and externally
YOUR PROFILE
- Master’s degree or ongoing Master’s studies in data science, computer science, (bio)statistics, computational biology, or related fields
- The ideal candidate should have experience and feel comfortable programming in Python and with deep learning frameworks, preferably PyTorch
- Familiarity with bioinformatics and MS Python packages, such as pyOpenMS, is a strong plus
- Familiarity with Linux environment and command line tools is a plus
- Experience with analysis of large biological data (proteomics, metabolomics, genomics) is a plus
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English language
