THE OPPORTUNITY
Biognosys’ laboratory in Newton, MA offers next-generation proteomics services to the local and global community. The Scientific Project Manager will apply Biognosys technologies to contract research projects for pharma and biotechnology companies. Given your strong mass spectrometry and proteomics backgrounds, you will be involved throughout the project pipeline from project design to sample processing and data analysis all the way through final report presentation to our customers. Together with a strong team of dedicated scientists, you will make Biognosys’ next generation proteomics technology available and actionable for the pharma and biotechnology industry and be a key driver of success at our site in Newton.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervision and execution of sample preparation for DIA LC-MS analysis on Bruker’s timsTOF instrumentation
- Project management including data analysis, interpretation and reporting
- Sample management, handling, and tracking
- Equipment management, including maintenance and calibration tasks, and the respective documentation
- Improvement and implementation of laboratory systems
- General laboratory duties such as purchasing, inventory management, monitoring lab safety, and ensuring sufficient stocks of standard buffers and supplies
- Frequent liaising with team members based at Biognosys’ headquarters in Switzerland
- Direct interface with customers to promote US facility and capabilities via customer meetings and conference attendance
YOUR PROFILE
- PhD in relevant scientific field (biological sciences preferred)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in proteomics including high-resolution DIA mass spectrometry proteomics and method development, preferably with Bruker timsTOF instruments
- Experience in data handling and interpretation of proteomics data
- Familiar with mass spectrometry data analysis solutions, in particular Spectronaut
- Experience with advanced data analysis tools (R/R-Shiny, Python) and machine learning approaches to interpret proteomics data is a plus
- Business-minded, self-motivated, analytical thinking, problem-solving attitude, independent working style
- Strong communication skills including ability to adapt to different scientific environments
